Dacite
Spalls Like
Obsidian, this is a great choice for any knapper's needs.
Dacite is slightly different from obsidian in that it
is tougher and has a less glass like properties. It's
a bit more like heat treated flint as opposed to glass.
Spalls range from 3-5" with an average of 4-5".
They are a nice economical choice for knappers polishing
their thinning skills.

a raw very high quality flint that requires no heat
treating. They are ready to work. They are earth tones
in color and range from 3 to 6 inches long. The average
size is 4 inches. These are very popular because of

Raw
High GradeTexas spalls
These
are high grade Texas spalls that require no heat treating.
The vast majority of knapped Texas artifacts are from
Raw stones. Raw flints offer a stronger implement. Heat
treated points are sharper but tend to be a bit on the
fragile side. These are great for the beginner or expert
knapper. The spalls range from 3-5 inches and are "earth
tones" in color such as browns, grays, blacks and
cream colors.
The average size is 4 inches long.

These
are whole cobbles with an average weight of 1 to 2lbs
per rock. This is a great choice for the beginner! There
are more rocks per pound which translates to more practice!

are a mix of heat treated and raw Texas flakes and thicker
pieces. They are great for practicing your skills making
arrow and atlatl sized points. The flakes range from
1 to 2 1/2 inches.
Some flakes are very thin and some pieces have a bit
of mass to them. Great for small arrow points and the
like.
